Home >> Services >> Room Additions
For many Virginia homeowners who need more space, moving may not be the answer. Room additions consist of increasing the size of your home in one of two ways. You can add space off of an exterior wall or go up over the existing home. Some actually do both. Popular additions are an enlarged kitchen, a family room, bedrooms, a master suite or home office.
A growing trend in today's society is to add comfortable, private spaces for aging parents, and blended families.
Though
many of us may disagree, we are considered “older Adults” by age 55. And AARP
accepts membership as young as age 50. Regardless, 77 million Baby Boomers have
reached retirement age by 2005. The Remodelors™ Council of the National
Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in collaboration with AARP developed the
Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) program to address the needs of these consumers.
The CAPS program has been developed to help remodeling professionals meet the
needs of this burgeoning market. To maintain their designation, CAPS certified
Remodelers are required to attend continuing education programs and abide by the
same strict requirement as a CGR and participate in community service projects.
Home Sweet Home Improvements is well versed the strategies and techniques for
designing and building aesthetically enriching, barrier-free living
environments. The CAPS program goes beyond design to address the codes and
standards, common remodeling expenditures and projects, product ideas, and
resources needed to provide comprehensive and practical aging-in-place
solutions.
